WATER SAFETY PROGRAM AT DORFLINGER-SUYDAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

The first Environmental Education program of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary's 2003 season will take place Saturday, April 12 from 9-11 AM when the Ledgedale Dive Rescue Team presents a water safety program for the public. This progam will be presented by Ed Ashcom and several members of the dive team. Ed Ashcom is a First Lieutenant on the Ledgedale Dive Rescue Team with over 32 years of diving experience. He is an Instructor Certifier for Scuba Schools International and teaches Basic Open Water Diver through Instructor. He is also an Instructor for ERDI (Emergency Response Diver International) and a Technical Instructor for Stage Decompression and Advanced Nitrox Diving.

The members of the Ledgedale Dive Rescue Team bring a combination of experience in water safety, rescue and recover to this water safety program. They will share their knowledge and experience with the general public. Individuals and families are encouraged to attend. The program is free of charge. Since part of this program will take place outside, please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

The water safety program at the Dorflinger-Suydam Sanctuary on Saturday, April 12th will begin at 9:00 AM at the Roger M. Blough Center building near the main parking lot. The Sanctuary is located on Long Ridge Road in the Village of White Mills, PA. At the blinking light on Route 6 in White Mills, turn and go UP the steep hill to the stop sign. Go through the intersection and the entrance to the Sanctuary is on the right.

Individuals and families are invited. The program is free. To assist the volunteer staff in planning for refreshments, participants are asked to register in advance by calling the Sanctuary office at 570-253-1185. For additional information please call the same number.
